About WRC

The Willamette Rowing Club welcomes all experienced masters rowers who are interested in training and competing at a high level in a fun, supportive, team environment.

Our Practice Schedule

Weather and river conditions permitting, we practice on the water every weekend all year long.

Tuesdays and Thursdays we are on ergs or on the water seasonally.โ€จ

Land training, and indoor erging are available year-round.โ€จ

We sweep and we scull in all boat categories.

We train hard together on the water and on ergs and we also socialize regularly; coffee post-practice, hiking, skiing, golfing, cycling, karaoke and dim sum โ€” we enjoy all that Portland has to offer!

Coaching

Adam Withycombe has been a coxswain and coach of university and masters teams for 30 years.

Adam got his start in rowing at Willamette University, where he served as 4-year varsity coxswain.  After graduation he stayed on as Assistant Coach for another 5 years.

Over the last 20 years as an elementary and middle school teacher and educational assessment specialist, Adam has supported the University of Tennessee, University of Colorado, and Boulder Rowing programs in volunteer capacities.

When not coaching or working his day job, he can be found fly fishing or exploring with his family.
